Speech-Language Pathology

We help children and adolescents find their voice by developing their communication skills

Social communication is how and why language and non-verbal communication skills are used to interact with others. At Red Oak, we work to empower children and adolescents to recognize and celebrate their existing communication abilities and build upon their strengths to learn new skills. Our SLPs create engaging, fun, and strengths-based sessions to support your child’s unique needs and goals. Our SLPs are registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).

Our Assessment Process

Our SLPs focus on assessing areas of strength and need using parent questionnaires, clinical observations, and standardized assessments, when appropriate, while building a relationship with your child. Following the assessment, your SLP will work collaboratively with you to establish therapy goals and discuss a treatment plan.

Support for Parents

Parent engagement is an integral component of our support to families at Red Oak. We work with parents to help you understand your child’s speech, language, and social communication profile and integrate at-home strategies into our therapy plans. Parent involvement in SLP therapy is essential to helping families support their child’s needs and improve treatment outcomes.

Depending on your child's needs, you can be involved in sessions in various ways (e.g., joining for all or some sessions, joining for end-of-session feedback). Parent sessions are also available for more comprehensive support. Our SLPs will work collaboratively with you to establish a therapy plan and level of involvement that works for you and your child.
